About the Songwriters:
Lowell: Lowell is a singer, songwriter and producer known for her collaborations with Beyoncé, Madison Beer, Charlie XCX, Tate McRae, Charlie Puth, The Beaches, Lennon Stella, Nessa Barrett, Hailee Steinfeld, bülow, Lu Kala, Leah Kate and many more. Specializing in artist development, Lowell has proven herself to be a powerhouse in consistently breaking artists. Whether producing, writing or A&R’ing projects, her ability to anticipate stylistic and production trends has launched many young artist projects into successful careers. With two songs on Beyoncé’s critically acclaimed new album – the international smash “Texas Hold’em” and upcoming single “Bodyguard” – Lowell has become a trusted collaborator for the legendary artist. Previous highlights include co-writing and co-producing The Beaches’ breakthrough album, featuring “Blame Brett”, which held #1 at alternative radio for 17 weeks and is rising at U.S. and Canadian Top 40. Lowell co-wrote two EPs with JUNO Award-winning artist Bülow, spawning the hit “Not A Love Song” and “You and Jennifer.” She co-wrote Madison Beer’s debut LP “Life Support” which scored a #1 Artist Debut US chart position and features the US platinum single, “Selfish.” She then went on to pen Nessa Barrett’s debut, “la di die” which peaked at #25 on US Top 40 radio and was certified US Gold. Previously, she was nominated for Canadian Screen Awards for best score and best original song in “Bloodthirsty”, the feature film co-written by Lowell.
Logan Staats: Mohawk folk and soul musician Logan Staats began as a diamond in the rough on the streets of Brantford, Ontario. A high school dropout who was in and out of group homes as a teenager, hovering between the city and the reservation. He had no formal musical training, no connections, just a good ear and raw lyrical talent- and always a guitar in hand. He played the local circuit for years before his 2015 debut release ‘Goodbye Goldia’, an unvarnished yet hard hitting folk album. He went on to win CTV’s ‘The Launch’ in 2018, gaining commercial success and touring across North America and Europe. The fight for indigenous sovereignty has become a focal point for Staats in recent years. He’s making roadtrippin’ music for those traveling ‘the red road’; a path towards reconnecting and relearning indigenous ways. “I wanted to bring my songwriting back to the medicine inside of music, to the medicine inside of reclamation,” he says. This is the philosophy behind his sophomore album ‘A Light In The Attic’, released 2023. Logan’s music has garnered a Juno nomination, multiple Native American Music Awards, and the SOCAN Indigenous Songwriter of the year. Nowadays, he splits his time between his home community Six Nations, and the northwest coast of Turtle Island.
Carleton Stone: Carleton Stone is an award-winning artist, a songwriter with a growing list of credits, and a founding member of the hugely successful Port Cities. He has recently added producer to his list of accomplishments with both Willie Stratton’s award winning “Drugstore Dreamin” and his own self produced, Papercut – a collection of sophisticated singer-songwriter pop with well-crafted lyrics and memorable melodies. An outstanding writer, Carleton has written songs for and with such diverse artists as Ria Mae, Matt Andersen, Quake, The East Pointers, Donovan Woods, Classified, Bobby Bazini, and Neon Dreams. His co-write on Maggie Andrew’s “Better Than You” has made its way as a 2023 Top 10 Finalist in CBC Searchlight. Carleton has three solo records to his credit, multiple awards, and has toured internationally, most recently in the US with The Crash Test Dummies.
Nicolina (in the TikTok emerging songwriter seat): When the then Canadian teen began posting TikToks from her suburban bedroom in 2020, she had no idea she would eventually find herself on the international stage on 2022’s American Idol. But when you hear her sing, the journey feels almost inevitable. Those popular TikTok posts resulted in calls from casting agents and the opportunity to audition for American Idol and she went on to become the only Canadian in the history of American Idol to navigate to a top five finalist and fan favourite. Her new single “Situations” (May 24, 2024) is bubbling summer hit, and with more new music on the horizon, along with a slate of electrifying live shows, audiences are ready for what’s next for this talented young singer-songwriter.
Andrea England (FCaTT Host/ Founder/Curator): Nova Scotia-born and raised, Toronto-based Andrea England, whose songs have been recorded by a diverse range of artists – from country artists Meghan Patrick and Don Amero to Popstar and ex-Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger – has released her long-awaited ambient Americana EP, Evidence of Love, produced by JUNO Award winner Hill Kourkoutis (Aysanabee, Digging Roots). Evidence of Love’s seven songs “detail love in all its many complicated forms: nostalgic love, love of parents, loss, absence of love, betrayal, ideal love, and the love we take with us when we …go.” Andrea is the sole songwriter on five of the album’s seven tracks, cowriting “Stone” with Tenille Townes and “Cover to Cover” with Liz Rodrigues (Celine, Eminem) and James Bryan (Drake, Nelly Furtado). Andrea’s previous album, Hope and Other Sins, produced by Grammy winner Colin Linden, spent several weeks on Cashbox Canada’s top 50 folk chart and hit No. 1 on Galaxy’s folk roots radio channel, and her debut, Lemonade, won multiple International songwriting awards and spawned network television and movie placements.
