Songwriter Bios
Andy Stochansky: Born and raised in Toronto, Stochansky began tinkering with the family piano at the age of five. By the time he was in his 20s, he had become a touring drummer and studio musician for Ani DiFranco. Taking up guitar and piano, and released his solo debut album, RadioFusebo which won the 2000 Canadian Juno Award for Best Album Design (Michael Wrycraft – Creative Director). Critics called it one of the best albums of the year. Joan Anderman from the Boston Globe called him “the best thing at SXSW”. The day after his final Fusebox Tour show, he wrote “Stutter” and in the summer of 2001, 5 Star Motel was released on RCA Victor, produced by Ian Lefevre. Two songs, “Wonderful (It’s Superman)”, produced by Dennis Herring (Elvis Costello, Counting Crows, Modest Mouse), and “Stutter,” produced by Tom Rothrock ( Beck/Elliott Smith ) received considerable radio attention, appeared in TV shows and on movie soundtracks. Goo Goo Dolls frontman Johnny Rzeznik produced Andy’s follow-up album, but a restructuring of the RCA record company put Stochansky out on his own and he decided to pitch the songs: the first would-be single from 100, “Shine,” was covered by Australian artist Shannon Noll, became an immediate hit and holds the record for most weeks at Number One on the Australian Airplay Chart. A second single, “House of Gold”, received radio success for Stochansky himself when released in Canada on the Canadian independent label Linus. Andy is now making his next full-length record and is hitting the road in 2025. Other writing highlights include: “Pale” and “Wherever You Go”, both co-written with Lola Lennox and produced by Annie Lennox, received considerable BBC radio airplay; “Northern Lights” for the Twilight Breaking Dawnsoundtrack, performed by Cider Sky; “BulletproofAngel” – “Goo Goo Dolls” from 2013 cd Magnetic; and “Seasick”- Dragonette from Twennies album.
Amanda Rheaume: At the start of every show, whether on stage in Chile, Nashville or Brisbane, Australia, Rheaume introduces herself as a Citizen of the Métis Nation of Ontario whose Red River roots run deep, interwoven with Anishinaabe relatives from Lac Seul and mixed settler relations. Unfamiliar as some of these places may be to her audience, her introduction is both a greeting and a foundation, situating Rheaume and her songs in multifold lineages of family and community. In Rheaume’s music, songs of resistance and resilience travel centuries. With a gentle yet unflinching touch, Rheaume has grown to be a chronicler of stories and people whose acts – out of necessity and opportunity alike – cascade through time and space, from the 18th century Red River Settlement to her own doorstep. With curiosity and empathy, Rheaume has become a bearer of history, unearthing and preserving Métis stories in song. In her gutsy guitar-driven style, punctuated with lively Métis fiddle, Rheaume’s heartland rock is built to last, resolute in rhythm and unswerving in purpose. For her newest album, The Truth We Hold, Rheaume traveled across the homelands, visiting communities and individuals whose collective experiences make up a living history of Métis joy, strength and struggle. From Northwest Ontario to rural Saskatchewan, Rheaume’s new collection explores moments that have shaped Métis history, from landmark court battles to silenced injustices, transmitting a message of interconnectedness that dissolves geographical and historical distances. The recipient of the 2024 Spirit of Folk Award, 2023 Canadian Folk Music Award for Indigenous Songwriter of the Year and the 2023 Capital Music Awards’ Album of the Year, Rheaume has released six full-length albums to date. Beyond recording and touring, Rheaume continues her ever-expanding role as an essential advocate of Indigenous music infrastructure and community. As a co-founder of Ishkode Records and International Indigenous Music Summit and founding board member of the Indigenous Music Office, a commitment to raising Indigenous sovereignty through the medicine of music motivates all of Rheaume’s work.

Kiesza: Kiesza’s latest music effortlessly navigates the cross of dance, house, and electro-pop with the folk influences that have long shaped her songwriting. This fusion of genres reflects her artistic evolution since her award-winning debut single, “Hideaway” and its memorable one-shot video that launched her career. With its release in 2014, “Hideaway” highlighted Kiesza’s abilities as a songwriter, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and accomplished dancer, originating from her hometown of Calgary, AB. The track received extensive radio and video play and Top 20 chart placements across North America and Europe, three JUNO Awards, Gold, Platinum, and Double Platinum status in the US, UK, and Canada, respectively, and launched her debut album Sound of a Woman. Following the success of her debut album, Kiesza faced her life’s “hardest work” – recovering from a traumatic brain injury sustained during a car accident in 2017. During her recovery, which remains ongoing, Kiesza could only hope her journey led her to the future she’d been striving for. That experience influenced her forthcoming work, and also her sophomore album, Crave (2020), which drew critical acclaim, followed by a collaboration with deadmau5 that surpassed over 12 million streams. In her new music, Kiesza embraces the extremes of her experiences and musical journey, bringing her exceptional talents to the forefront. Her 2024 release “Dancing and Crying: Vol 1” seamlessly metabolized her folk roots through her electronic identity and gave her a #1 on The US Dance Radio Airplay Chart with the single “I Go Dance”. Nicolina: Twenty-year-old Nicolina Bozzo is a singer-songwriter on the rise. Originally from the Toronto suburbs, her popular TikTok covers of emotional, soulful ballads lead to a stint on 2022’s American Idol. And when audiences hear her sing – those breathtaking high notes, rich tone, and controlled range – they are mesmerized by her talent and the sheer force of her voice. A self-taught keys player, Nicolina began writing her own music and collaborating with other musicians and writers. And everything, always, starts with the music. When Nicolina writes, the emotion in the music and melody come first and are woven together with lyrics. Much like her musical influences Lizzy McAlpine, Yebba, and, of course, Adele, Nicolina writes from her heart and connects with audiences where they’re at, hitting straight at the emotional heart of the matter through music and the power of her voice. Her hit single “Situations”, started from a teenage romance that lacked defined boundaries or pure intentions. Nicolina says, “I wanted to write an upbeat song about those feelings of the initial excitement of pursuing someone but also the uncertainty in that type of relationship that results in a ‘situationship’”. Co-written with Liz Rodrigues (Celine Dion, P!nk) and Cassie
Dasilva (Universal Music recording artist) and co-written and produced by Steve Mo (Finger Eleven, LØLØ, Kayla Diamond), “Situations” is a breakout single. Nicolina’s debut EP ‘Rearview’ (October 2024) features a collection of 5 songs that best reflect where Nicolina is at as a songwriter and as an evolving artist. With singles like ‘Way Out’, ‘Pretty’ and ‘Situations’ there’s an expression of a girl evolving into a women and navigating relationships. With more new music on the horizon, along with a slate of electrifying live shows, audiences are ready for what’s next for this talented young singer songwriter.

Ryland James: On the edge of the stage, under the spotlight, and behind a microphone, singer and songwriter
Ryland James thrives. In this space, the artist’s voice rings out with a bold balance of passion, panache, and power, coursing through a fusion of gospel roots, gritty soul, and anthemic pop straight from the heart. That voice has already carried him a long way from his hometown of Deseronto, Ontario. Additionally, he joined a personal hero—Alessia Cara—on a tour throughout Canada and the US in 2019. Returning from the road, he kicked off his biggest and boldest chapter with his platinum-selling single “In My Head” and his subsequent JUNO-nominated, self-titled debut EP. Co-written amidst trips to Stockholm, London, LA, and Toronto (which yielded nearly 100 original compositions), these songs highlight Ryland’s poetic songcraft and expansive vocal range. His vocals reverberate with a combination of urgent
immediacy and palpable emotion on every track. Ultimately, Ryland makes a connection every time he picks up a microphone in the studio or on stage, and his songwriting continues to impact the lives of many as he digs deeper into the nature of what it means to cultivate hope
and love in an uncertain world.
